The program is intended for students who want to acquire agricultural economic knowledge required for managers in agricultural business in order to be able to complete a wider range of professional and research works and tasks in the field of agricultural economics and agricultural food market after graduation, organize work processes and create an effective information base for decision-making in agricultural food and other companies, efficiently manage farms, make the best decisions in the market of agricultural food products, analyze and apply methods of agricultural policies, create and assess projects of sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas. Training structure and mode are adapted to the needs of complex development of agriculture and farm food production sector as an important integrative segment of common social and economic structure of society in Serbia.
The aim of the program consists in preparing specialists for performance of specific works in various industries, types of activities and organizational forms and types of incorporation of economic entities of agricultural production, processing and sales of agricultural products. The entire complex of activities is aimed at providing students with functional knowledge and skills using active training methods as well as development of critical thinking.
The training program provides all necessary knowledge and skills required to achieve short-term and long-term goals in the field of agricultural business management, as students are qualified thanks to relevant teaching and learning methods for creative and innovative work and successful use of their specialized knowledge and skills in the field of economics applied and adapted to the needs of various agricultural economic entities.
Specialists of this profile can find jobs at enterprises, in co-ops and unions, in the spheres of organization of production and processing, marketing and sales of agricultural and food products, procurement of production means, raw materials and auxiliary materials for agriculture and food products in small and medium companies, as well as in large business systems, banks, insurance companies, representative offices, expert consulting services and development services, in customs, inspection and tax services (especially in spheres dominated by income from agriculture, forestry and water sector), in accounting agencies, state agencies for development of villages and regions, agricultural institutes, producer associations and educational institutions.
In all these spheres of activity, they may be involved as managers who organize and supervise works of separate departments or general works within the scope associated with agriculture and agricultural business sector, and apply methods of economic analysis using computer software for data processing and business analysis.
The contents of the study plan and program within the framework of the educational system meet the challenges of the large-scale structural and evolutionary changes in Serbia, as well as the need for academic education of new profile specialists, especially in the field of agricultural production, food products and the entire agricultural sectors, especially from the point of view of already existing radical shifts in the structure of ownership, emergence of new forms of incorporation and cooperation of economic entities, adaptation of their sizes, intensity, production capacity and competitive ability of their production to the demands of domestic and international markets.
